Freewill is the freedom to take decision according to circumstances at that particular time. Decisions that were taken in the past. Or in the present. Or those will be taken in the future.
Our decisions depends upon the time and circumstances.
As the time and circumstances keep changing our decisions must also be flexible to change. This is being sovereign. To have free will. For freedom. For happiness. For moksha or nirvana or salvation.

Some like slavery in the name of loyalty and bondage and boundaries. Every divine soul has a different choice. Depending upon the changing circumstances and time.
Our previous decisions made by our previous soul was under those previous circumstances. Which was correct for the older time.
This is important to note.
Our soul has the free will to choose the present moment.
To take decisions with free will.
Depending upon the logical reasoning of the divine spirit.
This can be experienced when our soul merges with the divine spirit of free will.
Our spirit connects us with other souls. For us to understand other souls. To choose with free will. In this present moment. To experience joy and happiness.
Some people avoid this connection because they are afraid of misery and slavery and boundaries.
But if we meet the correct souls. Which can provides freedom. It will provide happiness.
Joy can be experienced in real life if we meet the good souls. Who care for others happiness.
Only spiritual practice after maturity can experience this connection.
It happens only when both love each other deeply.
